(Erie, Pa.) Feb. 1, 2010 - Since 2000, Erie Insurance has partnered with the Erie Chapter American Red Cross through the "Serving Together" program. The company, its employees, and agents teamed up yet again, this time for International relief for the Haiti disaster.

"We value our relationship with Erie Insurance," said Pam Masi, Executive Director, Greater Erie County Chapter, American Red Cross. "Through the years, in addition to volunteering for local chapters throughout their territory, employees and agents have provided relief to tsunami survivors in southern Asia and eastern Africa, raised funds in the aftermath of 9/11, and come to the aid of Hurricane Katrina victims. This further shows that Erie Insurance is a strong corporate citizen not only within our city, but across the world," she added.

From its founding in Erie, Pa. in 2000, the "Serving Together" partnership has grown to more than 1,000 volunteers in 23 chapter locations from New York to North Carolina and Wisconsin to Tennessee.

"Our employees began asking how they could help immediately after hearing of the Haiti disaster," said Terry Cavanaugh, president & CEO, Erie Insurance. "Our company and Board of Directors quickly made the decision to offer a matching gift for Employees and Agents up to $100,000 and make a corporate donation to the Haiti Relief Fund."

Donations will support the American Red Cross International Response Fund Haiti Relief, which provides supplies, mobilizing relief workers and providing financial resources.

Serving Together, the Erie Insurance American Red Cross Volunteer Network, is a companywide initiative that matches Erie Insurance volunteers with American Red Cross chapters across its marketing territories. It provides an opportunity for Erie Insurance employees and agents to partner with American Red Cross chapters to help people in times of need and assist in disaster preparedness education.
